Our Kolkata street theatre performances were a huge success! Over 4 days in late June, the Liveable Lives project came together with local volunteers in Kolkata, India, to run workshops and public street theatre performances. The idea is to take LGBTQ people's ideas of what makes their lives liveable into 'everyday' spaces - and to invite people watching to share their own thoughts. The third Liveable Lives workshop in India was held on April 12th in Kolkata, West Bengal. This workshop was for LGBTQ people living in various districts of West Bengal. Research Team member BB discusses the workshop and the conversations had about bhalo thaka (liveability) and tike thaka (survival).

The second Liveable Lives workshop in India was held on March 22nd in Kolkata, West Bengal. This workshop was for LGBTQ people living in areas surrounding Kolkata. This was a small and friendly workshop in which participants shared their experiences and thoughts about what makes life 'liveable' though discussion, writing, making collages, answering a questionnaire and mapping their lives in timelines.
